The Adoption
I saw Wolverine's adoption pictures & video
on the website "I Took This Today"

The minute I saw him, I was in love.
I asked Ruben, his owner, if he was adopted yet. He wasn't.
But Wolverine was in CA and I'm in NJ. How would I get him here?
Good thing I had just read about Pet Airways. They flew from LA to NY.

How would I get him to the airport?
My dear friend, Beverly, lives very close to Ruben and offered to take him.
Pet Airways only flies from LA to NY on Thursday mornings. This meant that Beverly had to pick up Wolverine on Tuesday night and deliver him to the airport on Wednesday for an overnight stay.

The Escape
Beverly picked up Wolverine Tuesday and took him to the new apartment she had just moved into.
Like any little kitty in a new environment, he ran and hid under the bed.
By Wednesday afternoon, he couldn't be found. A breach in a screen was discovered. He was gone.

Working closely with Beverly, I created this "Lost Cat" flyer that she passed out for blocks around her home. She also got a Havahart humane trap, trying to lure him out of small hiding places in the area.
I did what I could from my end by emailing the flyer to every Animal Shelter & Veterinarian I could find.

Different websites such as "Missing Pet Partnership" and "Cats in the Bag" provided invaluable information regarding lost cat behavior and the proper use of a humane trap.
The Lead
After 9 days of frustration, the phone call came. A wonderful man, George, called
on Thursday to tell me that he thought he saw Wolverine in his back yard the previous night.
Woo hoo! The first sighting!
Quick texts and phone calls flew between Bev and me. Bev talked with George.
He lived about 1 1/2 blocks away and would be happy to put the Havahart humane trap in his yard.
He & his wife, Marilyn, are cat owners and help rescue animals.

The Capture
Friday morning, Beverly texted me:
"Think we got him! Marilyn just called. He's in trap. I'm at work.
She's pretty sure it's him...Markings, etc."
A quick call to Marilyn confirmed that Wolverine was in the trap.
They brought him inside their house to keep him calm and safe. They are so nice!
Beverly picked him up later that day and kept him under lock and key.
Can you picture him banging a tin cup on his bars?

The Escape Artist Becomes the Prisoner
Wolverine still needed a visit to the vet before getting on the airplane.
Beverly took him to get his shots and to get micro-chipped on Saturday.
Early Sunday morning, she took him to the Pet Airways Pet Lounge in LA
to be boarded until the next flight to NY on Thursday.
Thank you, Beverly, for not giving up when all seemed lost! You're wonderful!
Everyone at Pet Airways was advised that Wolfie was very smart and may try to escape.
They guarded him very carefully and were not influenced by the "cuteness". He was in good hands.

Wolverine Flies to NY
Pet Airways flew from LA to Denver to Chicago on Thursday.
They spent the night in Chicago because the pets on the flight needed to be walked and fed.
They then flew to Washington/Baltimore and on to NY on Friday.
Wolverine stayed with Pet Airways overnight and was ready to be picked up on Saturday.
Dave and I drove out to pick him up.
Here he is with Michelle from Pet Airways.
Thanks to Michelle and Pet Airways for taking such good care of him!
